I'm the guy who has the benefit and misfortune of acquiring their entire Nintendo 3DS library via the Nintendo eShop. When I made preparations for Pokémon X and Y, I had previously purchased a 32 GB SDHC Card to prepare for the storage space on my original 3DS. With the New 3DS XL, I ended up replacing the latter with a Micro SDHC Card of the same 32 GB size limit. Then cue 2016 and the file size for Pokémon Sun and Moon are going to kill me in the end until I can successfully get my Pokémon transferred from my Gen VI games over to Sun and Moon. It's so far getting to the point where I may end up trying to set money aside for a 64 GB Micro SDXC Card, since I am certain I know of a trick that I can easily use on the card itself to get the New 3DS XL to be able to read it.this is going to be difficult for the new few months. For reference:

  • Pokémon X and Y are 1.7 GB in file size per individual copy.
  • Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are 1.8 GB in file size per individual copy.
  • Pokémon Sun and Moon are announced to be an estimated 3.2 GB in file size per individual copy.

So until I get a hold of a Micro SDXC Card, the above means that once I get everything from Generation VI transferred over to Generation VII, I'm going to delete my files for my Generation VI games entirely; the games themselves and everything outside of Pokémon Bank. Once I get Pokémon Sun and Moon, and once I have everything I would ever need from Generation VI, the need to keep the games installed on my Micro SDHC Card will be nothing more than a waste of space in the end. Then again considering what they're doing with Pokémon Sun and Moon, I can't blame the file size for being that much larger. That aside, I'm fully confident in Pokémon Sun and Moon so far with what they're doing with the core series in terms of progression; after many, many years of having known the franchise, it's still Pokémon with what I'm seeing so far.
