Story

Jon and Rosa are now on the battlefield getting ready to face each other.

Rosa: Let's see how well you have developed since the last time.

Jon: You'll see.

Referee: The battle between Jon and Rosa will begin soon. The battle will be a six on six, double battle. Substitutions are allowed. Begin!

Rosa: Honchkrow and Ninetales!

Rosa sends out her Honchkrow and Ninetales, but Ninetales is blue.

Jon: I guess that's the Alolan Ninetales.

Rotom-Dex scans Ninetales.

Rotom-Dex: Ninetales, The Fox Pokemon, Alolan Form, and the evolved form of Vulpix. Ninetales is an Ice and Fairy type. It creates drops of ice in its coat and showers them over its enemies. Anyone who angers it will be frozen stiff in an instant.

Rosa looks into the stands and sees her boyfriend, Nathan, who is sitting next to Drake and the others. Jon shudders.

Jon: Now let's go, Beedrill and Trevenant.

Jon sends out Beedrill and Trevenant. A gust of cold wind blows from Ninetales and it starts to hail.

Jon: Hail?

Rosa: Snow Warning. Let's see how much better you have gotten.

Jon: Beedrill, uses Toxic Spikes.

Beedrill uses Toxic Spikes and the spikes land on the floor.

Rosa: Nice idea.

Constantine: Jon is starting like that then.

Drake: Yeah.

Nathan: Didn't think that your friend and my girlfriend would be battling Drake.

Drake looks to his right.

Drake: Nathan?!

Nathan: Hey.

Drake: Long time no see. How are you buddy?

Nathan: I'm doing great thanks. Been a long time like you said.

Constantine: Who is this Drake?

Drake: Right, sorry. This is Nathan. We are good friends.

Nate: Ah, nice to meet you, I'm Nate.

April: April, Drake's girlfriend.

Mary: I'm Mary.

Constantine: And I'm Constantine.

Nathan: Nice to meet you all. I wonder what kind of battle they will bring out of each other?

The hail causes a little bit of damage to Trevenant and Beedrill, along with Honchkrow.

Jon: Now, Poison Jab on Honchkrow!

Trevenant heads towards Honchkrow using Poison Jab.

Rosa: Aurora Veil!

Ninetales uses Aurora Veil and covers herself and Honchkrow. Physical and special attacks are now reduced by a third. Poison Jab hits Honchkrow, but does nothing.

Jon: What?!

Rosa: Night Slash!

Honchkrow moves fast and hits Trevenant using Night Slash, causing a lot of damage.

Jon: Are you okay Trevenant?

Trevenant: Tre.

Jon: That's good.

Rosa: Blizzard!

Ninetales uses Blizzard and the move hits both Beedrill and Trevenant, and is also super effective on both Pokemon.

Jon: Argh.

Rosa: Now, Ice Shard and Psychic!

Ninetales uses Ice Shard and Honchkrow uses Psychic hurtles Ice Shard towards Beedrill and Trevenant fast.

Jon: They are using Psychic as a speed boost. Now, Venoshock and Shadow Claw!

Beedrill uses Venoshock and Trevenant uses Shadow Claw and they both cancel out the super fast Ice Shard.

Jon: Phantom Force!

Trevenant disappears into the ground.

Rosa: Search it out Honchkrow and then strike with Dark Pulse!

Honchkrow waits a while, but Trevenant appears behind Ninetales. Honchkrow uses Dark Pulse and hits Trevenant, sending Trevenant into the air and crashing into the battlefield near Jon. Hail then strikes all the Pokemon apart from Ninetales.

Jon: This is difficult. Right, Beedrill, return for now.

Jon returns Beedrill.

Nate: That is unusual.

Nathan: Why?

Nate: Trevenant has taken the most amount of damage.

Constantine: I think Jon wants Beedrill for Venoshock.

Nathan: That is a sound strategy.

Jon grins and Nate notices.

Nate: He has a plan now.

Jon: Go, Mudbray!

Jon sends out Mudbray.

Mary: Mudbray?

Rosa: A Ground type?

Jon: Rototiller! Go!

Mudbray uses Rototiller and Trevenant's physical and special attack get increased.

Rosa: No you don't. Moonblast!

Ninetales uses Moonblast towards Trevenant.

Jon: Rototiller and Shadow Claw!

Mudbray uses Rototiller again and increases both of Trevenant's attacks. Trevenant then uses Shadow Claw and cancels out Moonblast.

Jon: Now, Horn Leech! Mudbray, use Mega Kick on Honchkrow!

Trevenant moves fast and hits Ninetales with Horn Leech, taking some of Ninetales' HP and recovering some of his own. Mudbray runs towards Honchkrow.

Rosa: Honchkrow, use Double Team!

Honchkrow uses Double Team. Mudbray uses Mega Kick on Honchkrow, but it turns out to be a fake. All the fake Honchkrow disappear.

Rosa: Dark Pulse!

Honchkrow uses Dark Pulse and hits Mudbray towards Ninetales.

Jon: Mudbray, use High Horsepower!

Rosa: Blizzard!

Before Mudbray can use High Horsepower, Ninetales uses Blizzard and sends Mudbray crashing into the battlefield near Jon. Mudbray can't get up.

Referee: Mudbray is unable to battle.

Jon: You were great Mudbray.

Jon returns Mudbray.

Constantine: That was too bad.

Nathan: Jon had a good idea, but Rosa's strategy worked better.

Drake: Yeah, but now Jon has the advantage.

Nathan: What do you mean?

Nate: Jon now know all of Honchkrow's and Ninetales' moves.

April: That is true.

Mary: Unfortunately, that doesn't mean the outcome of the battle will now be in Jon's favour.

Drake: Who are you supporting?

Mary: I'm supporting Jon, but I'm being realistic.

Nathan: Mary does have a point.

Jon: Go!

Jon sends out Beedrill again.

Jon: Giga Drain!

Beedrill uses Giga Drain towards Ninetales.

Rosa: Night Slash!

Jon: Counter with Shadow Claw!

Honchkrow uses Night Slash towards Giga Drain, but Trevenant uses Shadow Claw to counter Night Slash. Giga Drain continues and hits Ninetales, taking a lot of damage. Everyone but Ninetales gets hit with Hail.

Rosa: Dark Pulse!

Honchkrow uses Dark Pulse towards Beedrill.

Jon: Venoshock and Phantom Force!

Beedrill uses Venoshock to cancel out Dark Pulse. Trevenant uses Phantom Force and disappears.

Rosa: Ice Shard!

Ninetales quickly uses Ice Shard and the move hits Beedrill. Trevenant hits Ninetales with Phantom Force, resulting in Ninetales fainting. The Hail strikes all the Pokemon again.

Referee: Ninetales is unable to battle.

Rosa: You were amazing Ninetales.

Rosa returns Ninetales.

Jon (Thinking): This is a tough battle. Both Beedrill and Trevenant have taken a lot of damage.

Rosa: Right, Lycanroc!

Rosa sends out Lycanroc, which is in midday form. Lycanroc suddenly gets covered in purple bubbles showing Lycanroc has been poisoned.

Jon: Venoshock!

Beedrill uses Venoshock and hits Lycanroc, causing a lot of damage.

Rosa: Accelerock!

In a blink of an eye, Lycanroc hits Beedrill using Accelerock, knocking Beedrill out.

Referee: Beedrill is unable to battle.

Jon: You were good Beedrill.

Jon returns Beedrill.

Nate: Now Jon has lost two Pokemon.

Nathan: He still has Toxic Spikes in play.

Jon: Jangmo-o.

Jon sends out Jangmo-o.

Jon: Noble Roar!

Jangmo-o uses Noble Roar and lowers Lycanroc's and Honchkrow's attack.

Jon: Now, Dragon Breath and Poison Jab!

Jangmo-o uses Dragon Breath towards Lycanroc and Trevenant uses Poison Jab towards Honchkrow.

Rosa: Stone Edge and Night Slash!

Lycanroc uses Stone Edge and cancels out Dragon Breath and also somehow gets rid of the Toxic Spikes. Honchkrow uses Night Slash and connects with Trevenant. The moves cause an explosion and send both Pokemon towards their trainers. However, Trevenant is the one who faints.

Referee: Trevenant is unable to battle.

Jon: Fantastic work Trevenant.

Jon returns Trevenant and the Hail stops.

Jon: Hmm.

Rosa: You have done well and have improved since last time, but you are still going to lose.

Jon: The battle isn't over until one team gives up or can't go on! I'll never give up till the end.

Both Rosa and Nathan are somewhat shocked by this.

Drake: Are you okay Nathan?

Nathan: Yeah. It's just the way Jon said it. I said that when I was battling once.

Mary: And you must have had Rosa with you as she acted in the same way.

Nathan: Yeah.

Referee: Your next Pokemon!

Jon: Right. Bounsweet!

Jon sends out Bounsweet.

Drake: Has he lost his mind?

April: I mean he has Typhlosion left.

Mary: I think that is what Drake means.

Jon: Now, Grass Whistle!

Bounsweet quickly uses Grass Whistle and puts both Honchkrow and Lycanroc to sleep.

Rosa: That was your plan.

Jon: Noble Roar, over and over.

Jangmo-o uses Noble Roar, lowering both Lycanroc's and Honchkrow's attack.

Jon: Bounsweet, use Dazzling Gleam!

Bounsweet uses Dazzling Gleam and the move hits both Lycanroc and Honchkrow, however they are both still standing.

Jon: Dragon Breath on Honchkrow!

Jangmo-o uses Dragon Breath towards Honchkrow, but Lycanroc wakes up.

Jon: Uh oh.

Rosa: Stone Edge!

Lycanroc uses Stone Edge but Dragon Breath bursts through it like Stone Edge was paper. Dragon Breath hits Honchkrow, knocking her out.

Referee: Honchkrow is unable to battle.

Rosa returns Honchkrow.

Rosa: You were great Honchkrow. I didn't think that you would beat another one of my Pokemon.

Jon: There's always surprises.

Rosa: Correct. Now, Incineroar!

Rosa sends out Incineroar.

Jon: Incineroar!

Nathan: Now Rosa means business.

Nate: With Noble Roar having only affected Lycanroc, Incineroar is at full power.

Jon: Energy Ball!

Bounsweet uses Energy Ball towards Lycanroc.

Rosa: Flare Blitz.

Incineroar uses Flare Blitz and destroys Energy Ball and also hits Bounsweet, causing a lot of damage.

Jon: Bounsweet!

Bounsweet is barely holding on.

Rosa: Now, Rock Polish!

Lycanroc uses Rock Polish and increases her speed.

Jon: Noble Roar!

Rosa: Throat Chop.

Incineroar uses Thoat Chop and hits Jangmo-o, who then tries to use Noble Roar but can't.

Rosa: Throat Chop causes damage and stops all noise based moves.

Jon: Urgh. Dragon Claw and Energy Ball!

Jangmo-o runs at Incineroar using Dragon Claw while Bounsweet uses Energy Ball and sends the move towards Lycanroc.

Rosa: Accelerock!

Lycanroc uses Accelerock on Jangmo-o, stopping him in his tracks.

Rosa: Brick Break!

Lycanroc quickly hits Jangmo-o with Brick Break, sending him crashing near Jon. Energy Ball then hits Lycanroc and sends her towards Rosa, crashing into the battlefield.

Referee: Both Jangmo-o and Lycanroc are unable to battle.

Jon: You battled valiantly.

Rosa: Great work Lycanroc.

Jon returns Jangmo-o while Rosa returns Lycanroc.

Jon: Typhlosion.

Typhlosion walks onto the battlefield.

Rosa: Lucario!

Rosa sends out Lucario.

Jon: Lucario and Incineroar. Hm.

Rosa: Swords Dance!

Lucario uses Swords Dance and increases her physical attack a lot.

Nathan: She is getting ready for the difficult fight.

Drake: Jon is already down to his last two Pokemon.

Jon: Focus Blast!

Typhlosion uses Focus Blast, but Incineroar dodges.

Rosa: Let's go Lucario!

Rosa holds up a key stone and the key stone connects with Lucario and Lucario mega evolves into Mega Lucario.

Jon: Mega Lucario! I remember when I saw Mega Lucario in a gym battle.

Rosa: A bit of nostalgia then. Aura Sphere!

Mega Lucario uses Aura Sphere.

Jon: Focus Blast!

Typhlosion uses Focus Blast and cancels out Aura Sphere, but leaves a big smoke cloud around.

Jon: Grass Whistle!

Bounsweet uses Grass Whistle. When the clouds disperse, only Mega Lucario is seen sleeping.

Rosa: Use Flare Blitz!

Jon: Energy Ball!

Bounsweet attacks using Energy Ball, but Incineroar dodges easily and then hits Bounsweet with Flare Blitz. Bounsweet smashes into the battlefield.

Referee: Bounsweet is unable to battle.

Jon: You were great Bounsweet.

Jon returns Bounsweet.

Jon: Focus Blast!

Typhlosion uses Focus Blast and hits Incineroar.

Rosa: Darkest Lariat!

Jon: Dragon Pulse!

Incineroar uses Darkest Lariat towards Typhlosion but Typhlosion uses Dragon Pulse close range and hits Incineroar causing Incineroar to smash into the battlefield. Incineroar begins to stagger up.

Jon: Focus Blast!

Typhlosion uses Focus Blast and hits Incineroar, knocking her out.

Referee: Incineroar is unable to battle.

Rosa: Great job Incineroar. Take a good rest.

Rosa returns Incineroar and sends out Greninja.

Rosa: Power up Greninja!

A water veil surrounds Greninja and Greninja becomes Rosa-Greninja with a water shuriken forming on her back.

Jon: Rosa-Greninja!

Nathan: And that is what Rosa wanted.

Drake: To be Rosa-Greninja?

Nathan: No, for Jon to be in a predicament that he'd have to use Jon-Typhlosion.

Nate: You know about Jon-Typhlosion?

Nathan: Rosa told me.

Constantine: Even if Jon did access Jon-Typhlosion, he still has a long way to go.

April: But Rosa is a bit scared.

Mary: What makes you say that?

April: She has Rosa-Greninja and Mega Lucario. Jon only has one Pokemon.

Nathan: When she last battled Jon, she told me that he was very powerful.

Drake: Even after all the angst she gave him, she still saw him as a worthy opponent.

Rosa: Greninja, Water Shuriken!

Jon: Shuriken Blaze!

Rosa-Greninja uses Water Shuriken and Typhlosion uses Shuriken Blaze, which cancel each other out.

Rosa: Flash Cannon!

Mega Lucario uses Flash Cannon and hits Typhlosion quickly.

Jon: Argh.

Typhlosion: Phlo Ty.

Jon: Yeah. They brought their A game, we should return the favour!

Typhlosion gets covered in a fire vortex and the vortex forms a fire shuriken on Typhlosion's back. There are two mini volcanoes on Typhlosion's shoulders, one on each. Typhlosion has now become Jon-Typhlosion.

Rosa: There we are! Now, Night Slash and Swords Dance!

Rosa-Greninja runs towards Jon-Typhlosion using Night Slash while Mega Lucario uses Swords Dance and increases her attack even more.

Jon: Dragon Pulse!

Jon-Typhlosion uses Dragon Pulse and hits Rosa-Greninja, but thanks to Night Slash, Rosa-Greninja took no damage.

Jon: Focus Blast at Mega Lucario!

Jon-Typhlosion launches Focus Blast at Mega Lucario.

Rosa: Aura Sphere!

Mega Lucario uses Aura Sphere and cancels out Focus Blast.

Rosa: Double Team!

Rosa-Greninja uses Double Team and creates a lot of fake copies, and they all surround Jon-Typhlosion.

Jon: Man.

Drake: This is a tough battle.

Jon (In mind): Spin on the spot and use Shuriken Blaze repeatedly!

Jon-Typhlosion spins on the spot and then launches small Shuriken Blaze's towards all of the Rosa-Greninja's. They all hit and get rid of the fakes.

Rosa: Close Combat!

Mega Lucario is now in front of Jon-Typhlosion and hits with Close Combat.

Rosa: Night Slash!

Jon-Typhlosion skids back but this is towards Rosa-Greninja and Rosa-Greninja attacks using Night Slash, knocking Jon-Typhlosion towards Mega Lucario.

Rosa: Aura Sphere!

Mega Lucario uses Aura Sphere and the move hits Jon-Typhlosion sending him into the air. Jon holds his left arm and squints in pain.

Jon: Man. Dragon Pulse!

Jon-Typhlosion is still in the air and uses Dragon Pulse, but Rosa-Greninja and Mega Lucario both dodge. Jon-Typhlosion lands on the battlefield in front of Jon, facing Mega Lucario and Rosa-Greninja.

Drake: This is pretty bad.

Nathan: Rosa has this.

Drake: I meant bad for Jon.

Jon: Now. Flamethrower!

Rosa: Water Shuriken.

Jon-Typhlosion uses Flamethrower and Rosa-Greninja uses Water Shuriken, and the two moves connect and cancel each other out.

Rosa: Flash Cannon!

Jon: Flamethrower!

Mega Lucario uses Flash Cannon and Jon-Typhlosion uses Flamethrower. The moves connect and cancel out.

Jon: Right then, let's go!

Jon-Typhlosion begins running around, getting faster and faster.

Nathan: What? How?

Nate: Jon and Typhlosion have always had a close bond.

Jon: Shuriken Blaze!

Jon-Typhlosion uses Shuriken Blaze and hits Mega Lucario.

Rosa: Close Combat!

Mega Lucario uses Close Combat towards Jon-Typhlosion who keeps dodging gracefully, but lands in the path of Rosa-Greninja.

Rosa: Water Shuriken!

Rosa-Greninja uses Water Shuriken and hits Jon-Typhlosion up in the air towards Mega Lucario.

Jon: Flamethrower!

Jon-Typhlosion looks at the battlefield from the air and uses Flamethrower. The move hits the battlefield and spreads out hitting both Mega Lucario and Rosa-Greninja, causing minimal damage to Rosa-Greninja. Mega Lucario falls to one knee.

Jon: Focus Blast!

Rosa: Aerial Ace!

Jon-Typhlosion lands on the battlefield and launches Focus Blast at Rosa-Greninja, but it gets deflected by Aerial Ace.

Rosa: Night Slash and Flash Cannon!

Rosa-Greninja uses Night Slash towards Jon-Typhlosion while Mega Lucario uses Flash Cannon. Jon-Typhlosion dodges all the attacks.

Jon: Dragon Pulse!

Rosa: Flash Cannon!

Dragon Pulse and Flash Cannon combine, looking very equal.

Rosa: Night Slash!

Rosa-Greninja runs in towards Jon-Typhlosion and hits him with Night Slash. Rosa-Greninja and Mega Lucario are in the same spot now.

Jon: Shuriken Blaze!

Jon-Typhlosion uses Shuriken Blaze and hits both Pokemon.

Jon: Now, all we have. Full power Flamethrower!

Jon-Typhlosion launches a very powerful Flamethrower towards Rosa-Greninja and Mega Lucario.

Rosa: Water Shuriken and Aura Sphere!

Rosa-Greninja uses Water Shuriken and Mega Lucario uses Aura Sphere and the two moves combine and connect with Flamethrower. Neither attacks seem to be giving in.

Rosa: Close Combat!

Mega Lucario jumps over to Jon-Typhlosion and uses Close Combat on him, knocking him into the air.

Rosa: Aerial Ace!

Rosa-Greninja hits Jon-Typhlosion down using Aerial Ace, causing Jon-Typhlosion to land in the combination of moves. An explosion happens and Jon falls to the floor. The smoke clears and Jon-Typhlosion is now Typhlosion.

Referee: Typhlosion is unable to battle.

Jon: Great work Typhlosion. I am very proud.

Referee: Rosa is the winner of the tournament.

Everyone is on the battlefield later with Rosa on a stand accepting her medal for winning. The screen freezes.

Narrator: Jon and Rosa began their heated battle with each other, with their Pokemon giving it everything that they had. Soon, Rosa was beating Jon and Jon had trouble closing up the gap but eventually did. However, in the final battle it was Rosa-Greninja and Mega Lucario against Jon-Typhlosion. Jon and Typhlosion fought valiantly but were defeated, leaving Rosa as the victor.
