Story[]
Luke and Jon are on the battlefield while Mary, Ralph, Tyler and Falkner are in the stands watching with the rest of the spectators.
Luke: Jon, remember what we promised yesterday.
Jon: I do.
Referee: This battle will be a 6 on 6 battle. The format will be either single, double or triple battle.
Jon: I’ve never done a triple battle before.
The Referee spins the wheel and the pointer lands on double battles.
Jon: Double battle then.
Referee: Send out your two Pokemon.
Luke: Bulbasaur, Eevee, let’s go!
Jon: Pikachu, Quagsire, let’s go.
Bulbasaur and Eevee appear in front of Luke. Pikachu and Quagsire appear in front of Jon.
Jon: So you have an Eevee.
Luke: Yeah, got it in Ilex Forest.
Jon: Right, Thunderbolt!
Pikachu uses Thunderbolt.
Luke: Solar Beam!
Bulbasaur charges up and fires Solar Beam and collides with Thunderbolt and they cancel each other out.
Jon: Solar Beam charged up quick.
Luke: Eevee, Helping Hand, Bulbasaur Energy Ball!
Eevee touches Bulbasaur and uses Helping Hand. Bulbasaur uses Energy Ball but it is bigger due to Helping Hand.
Jon: Quagsire, Scald and Pikachu Thunderbolt.
The moves collide with the Energy Ball and cancel each other out.
Luke: Strong.
Jon: Bulbasaur has the type advantage against Quagsire.
Luke: Eevee, Dig!
Eevee digs underground.
Jon: Ah. I need fast reactions. Let’s take a move and deal twice the damage. Aqua Tail Defence.
Quagsire uses Aqua Tail on the floor and a tidal wave begins. Also the ground breaks and Eevee shoots up into the air and then gets hit by the tidal wave.
Luke: Eevee!
Jon: Great work Quagsire. Pikachu return.
Jon returns Pikachu.
Tyler: Why return Pikachu?
Falkner: I admit, returning Quagsire would be the obvious choice.
Mary: Wonder what Jon has in mind?
Luke: So you returned Pikachu over Quagsire? Why?
Jon: I’ll show you. Go Bayleef!
Jon sends out Bayleef.
Luke: Hm. Energy Ball!
Bulbasaur uses Energy Ball towards Quagsire.
Jon: Bayleef, block!
Bayleef stands in front of Quagsire and takes the Energy Ball.
Luke: I see.
Ralph: So that was Jon’s strategy.
Falkner: Bayleef is the shield for Quagsire.
Luke: Right, Quick Attack.
Eevee uses Quick Attack on Bayleef, knocking Bayleef back.
Luke: Now we can attack. Energy Ball!
Bulbasaur uses Energy Ball on Quagsire and the move hits.
Jon: Great. Quagsire Scald!
Quagsire uses Scald on Eevee before Eevee can get back to Luke.
Luke: Eevee!
Eevee seems to be fine.
Luke: Right, use Helping Hand and Bulbasaur use Solar Beam!
Eevee uses Helping Hand and Bulbasaur fires Solar Beam towards Quagsire, more powerful thanks to Helping Hand.
Jon: Quagsire Scald, Bayleef, Leaf Barrage!
Quagsire uses Scald to stop Solar Beam and Bayleef races past using Leaf Barrage and hits Eevee.
Luke: Eevee!
Eevee is laying on the floor.
Referee: Eevee is unable to battle.
Luke returns Eevee.
Luke: Great work Eevee thanks.
Jon: Great work Bayleef.
Luke sends out Magmar.
Jon: Magmar?
Jon gets out his Pokedex and points it at Magmar.
Jon’s Pokedex: Magmar, the spitfire Pokemon. Its body is like a furnace, making Magmar a living inferno. It has been discovered near volcanoes.
Jon puts his Pokedex away.
Jon: Right, a fire type. Seems like Bayleef and Quagsire are covering each other.
Luke: Right, Magmar Flamethrower.
Jon: Use Scald quickly!
Magmar uses Flamethrower and Quagsire uses Scald. The moves cancel each other out.
Luke: Bingo, Solar Beam!
Bulbasaur uses Solar Beam quick and the move hits Quagsire.
Referee: Quagsire is unable to battle.
Jon: Quagsire!
Jon returns Quagsire.
Jon: You were great, thanks.
Tyler: So now Jon doesn’t have a counter for Magmar now.
Jon sends out Spearow.
Spearow: Spear!
Luke: So now Bayleef and Spearow against Magmar and Bulbasaur.
Jon: Yeah.
Luke: With no coverage against Magmar, what will you do?
Falkner: Luke knows what he is doing and is also trying to make Jon angry.
Jon: Your forgetting something.
Luke: What?
Jon: Aerial Ace on Bulbasaur!
Spearow uses Aerial Ace on Bulbasaur fast and Bulbasaur gets hit and lands near Luke, getting up a bit slowly.
Jon: I’ve got Spearow out.
Luke: Bulbasaur return.
Luke returns Bulbasaur.
Tyler: Jon took away Luke’s confidence.
Mary: He thought taking out Quagsire would mean he had the match. That clouded his head.
Ralph: Jon is good.
Luke sends out Flaaffy.
Jon: A Flaaffy.
Luke: Right. Now Electro Ball!
Jon: Bayleef help out using Light Screen!
Bayleef uses Light Screen and Electro Ball does nothing to Spearow.
Luke: Nice plan. Magmar, Fire Blast!
Jon: Leaf Storm!
Magmar uses Fire Blast but Bayleef uses Leaf Storm to stop the move.
Luke: Flaaffy, use Thunderbolt!
Thunderbolt heads for Spearow.
Jon: Spearow, dodge and Bayleef, use Leaf Barrage!
Spearow dodges the Thunderbolt and Bayleef uses Leaf Barrage and heads straight for Flaaffy.
Luke: Magmar, Hyper Beam on Bayleef!
Magmar uses Hyper Beam on Bayleef but Bayleef has already hit Flaaffy. Hyper Beam hits both Flaaffy and Bayleef and a cloud of smoke appears.
Jon: Bayleef!
The smoke cloud disappears.
Referee: Both Bayleef and Flaaffy are unable to battle.
Jon returns Bayleef and Tyler returns Flaaffy.
Jon: You were great Bayleef.
Luke: Go Krabby!
Luke sends out Krabby.
Jon: I could use Pikachu again, but Pikachu wouldn’t have gotten the majority of its strength back. Plus I don’t need two speed Pokemon on the field.
Jon sends out Heracross.
Luke: Heracross?!
Mary: What is Jon thinking?!
Ralph: Magmar has the advantage over Heracross.
Tyler: True, but this is Jon we are on about.
Falkner: He has shown us multiple ways of seeing a battle.
Jon: Heracross, Spearow, let’s work together.
Heracross and Spearow nod.
Jon: Right, Aerial Blast!
Luke: Aerial Blast?
Spearow uses Aerial Ace while Heracross uses Focus Blast. Focus Blast combines with Aerial Ace making Aerial Ace turn blue.
Jon: Go!
Luke: Use Fire Blast.
Magmar uses Fire Blast but Spearow dodges it with ease and hits Magmar with Aerial Blast.
Luke: Power!
Magmar gets up weakly.
Luke: Right, Krabby use Agility.
Krabby moves around the field fast and glows red.
Jon: Speed is increased.
Luke: Correct, now use Crabhammer on Heracross!
Jon: Spearow Quick Attack!
Krabby uses Crabhammer speedily towards Heracross but Spearow gets in the way using Quick Attack. Krabby gets knocked back to Magmar.
Luke: Magmar, Hyper Beam!
Magmar uses Hyper Beam and hits Spearow.
Referee: Spearow is unable to battle.
Jon: You done a great job Spearow.
Jon returns Spearow.
Falkner: I never though Focus Blast and Aerial Ace could be combined.
Tyler: I learn every day from Jon.
Jon sends out Pikachu.
Luke: Pikachu?!
Pikachu moves a little weakly.
Jon: Can you battle Pikachu?
Pikachu nods.
Luke: Persistent, I like it. Magmar Flamethrower and Krabby, use Bubble!
Magmar uses Flamethrower and Krabby uses Bubble. The moves collide and form a combination. The Bubble attack has become red with some Flamethrower at the front.
Jon: Bubble Flame. Heracross use Brick Break on the battlefield, Pikachu you do the same with Iron Tail!
Heracross uses Brick Break on the battlefield and Pikachu uses Iron Tail on the battlefield. Stone slabs raise up and get destroyed by the Flamethrower and Bubble.
Luke: Bubble Flame, I like it. Heracross and Pikachu are strong, that is for sure. Even with Pikachu taking damage from the battle with Bulbasaur and Eevee.
Jon: Pikachu is a very strong Pokemon. Now use Focus Volt!
Pikachu uses Volt Tackle but stays still and Heracross uses Focus Blast at Pikachu. The two moves combine, giving off a yellow and blue light surrounding Pikachu. Pikachu then runs.
Luke: Oh no! What to do?
Magmar covers itself in flames and charges at Pikachu. A big explosion erupts a big smoke cloud which hits the ceiling. The smoke cloud stays for a long time. When the smoke disappears, Magmar is on the floor and Pikachu is barely standing.
Referee: Magmar is unable to battle.
Luke returns Magmar.
Luke: What was that move?
Jon: That was Flare Blitz. A move which causes recoil like Volt Tackle does.
Luke: I see, so Magmar learned Flare Blitz.
Tyler: Magmar is powerful.
Mary: A Pokemon we need to look out for.
Jon: So three Pokemon each.
Luke: True but Pikachu is almost at his limit.
Jon: I wouldn’t count Pikachu out yet!
Luke sends out Ursaring.
Jon: An Ursaring?!
Tyler: I didn’t know Luke caught an Ursaring.
Mary: He said he caught it sometime after he met you and Jon in Monocco Town.
Ralph: Ursaring is a strong Pokemon.
Falkner: And when Ursaring is angry, it is at its most powerful.
Jon: Ursaring are tough. Heracross, use Brick Break!
Luke: Krabby block it with Crabhammer!
Heracross goes in for a Brick Break towards Ursaring, but Krabby blocks the move using Crabhammer.
Luke: Now Slash!
Jon: Pikachu, help out with Iron Tail!
Ursaring uses Slash and is close to hitting Heracross when Pikachu comes in using Iron Tail to block the attack and knock Ursaring back.
Luke: I’m getting a bit annoyed at how good Jon is. It’s like he counters almost everything I throw at him.
Jon: Now, let’s use another combo. Focus Tail!
Pikachu uses Iron Tail and stands on all four feet still, with its tail in the air and Heracross uses Focus Blast and aims it at Iron Tail and Focus Blast circles around Pikachu’s Iron Tail.
Luke: A combo move. Wonder what Jon is going to do?
A few seconds pass and Pikachu does nothing.
Luke: What? Stalling? Ursaring Hyper Beam, Krabby Agility.
Krabby uses agility and glows red, showing speed increase. Ursaring fires the Hyper Beam.
Jon: Got you.
Tyler: Got him?
Jon: Now Pikachu!
Pikachu flings the Focus Blast with Iron Tail at Hyper Beam causing a smoke cloud to cover Ursaring and Krabby.
Jon: Heracross, Brick Break!
Heracross flies in using Brick Break and hits Ursaring. The smoke clears.
Luke: Crabhammer!
Jon: Heracross, Night Slash!
The two moves collide and knock each other out.
Referee: Both Heracross and Krabby are unable to battle.
Jon returns Heracross and Luke returns Krabby.
Jon: Great work Heracross.
Luke: Thanks Krabby.
Jon sends out Cyndaquil and Luke sends out Bulbasaur.
Jon: The only difference is, Cyndaquil hasn’t battled.
Luke: Hmm. Cut on Pikachu!
Jon: Iron Tail!
Ursaring uses Cut and Pikachu uses Iron Tail to cancel each other out.
Jon: Thunderbolt!
Luke: Hyper Beam!
The moves collide and cancel each other out.
Jon: Volt Tackle!
Luke: Brick Break!
Pikachu uses Volt Tackle and is closing in on Ursaring, but Ursaring suddenly moves and use Brick Break. The moves collide causing both Pokemon to fly back.
Referee: Both Pikachu and Ursaring are unable to battle.
Jon and Luke return their Pokemon.
Tyler: Jon has the type advantage.
Falkner: As well as the stamina advantage as Cyndaquil hasn’t battled yet.
Mary: That doesn’t mean Jon will win.
Ralph: I can’t wait to see how this one goes.
Jon and Luke look at each other.
Jon: Luke, it’s like what you said yesterday. No holding back.
Luke: I did say and we agreed on it.
Jon: Flamethrower!
Cyndaquil uses Flamethrower and the move hits Bulbasaur.
Luke: Solar Beam!
Bulbasaur fires a quick Solar Beam and the move this Cyndaquil.
Jon: Flame Charge!
Luke: Energy Ball!
Cyndaquil uses Flame Charge and Bulbasaur uses Energy Ball. Energy Ball hits the Flame Charge, causing Cyndaquil to move backwards along the battlefield. Cyndaquil glows red.
Luke: Increasing his speed.
Jon: Flame Charge again!
Luke: Sludge Bomb.
Cyndaquil runs towards Bulbasaur using Flame Charge, but Bulbasaur retaliates with Sludge Bomb but Cyndaquil dodges and hits Bulbasaur with Flame Charge and jumps back near Jon. Cyndaquil glow red.
Luke: Bulbasaur!
Bulbasaur gets up, stumbles.
Bulbasaur: BULBA!
A blue light engulfs Bulbasaur and it begins to evolve. The bulb opens up, revealing a pink closed flower. After the light disperses, Ivysaur is seen.
Luke: An Ivysaur! You evolved!
Jon: So that’s Ivysaur.
Jon pulls his Pokedex out and points it at Ivysaur.
Jon’s Pokedex: Ivysaur, the seed Pokemon, and the evolved form of Bulbasaur. When the bud on its back begins to swell, a sweet aroma wafts to indicate the flowers coming bloom.
Jon puts his Pokedex away.
Jon: That’s great your Bulbasaur evolved Luke.
Luke: Thanks. Now Energy Ball!
Jon: Flamethrower!
Ivysaur uses Energy Ball, and it is slightly bigger than when it was a Bulbasaur. Cyndaquil uses Flamethrower and the moves collide, cancelling each other out.
Luke: Sludge Bomb!
Ivysaur fires Sludge Bomb at Cyndaquil.
Jon: Dodge, then Aerial Ace!
Cyndaquil dodges then hits Ivysaur with Aerial Ace.
Luke: Solar Beam!
Jon: Flame Charge!
Ivysaur begins to collect sunlight. Cyndaquil races towards Ivysaur using Flame Charge. Ivysaur begins to release Solar Beam but Cyndaquil is right in front of it. A big explosion happens causing a big smoke cloud to appear.
Jon: Cyndaquil!
Luke: Ivysaur!
The smoke cloud clears and Cyndaquil runs to Jon.
Luke: What’s happened to Ivysaur?
Cyndaquil jumps onto Jon’s shoulder.
Referee: Ivysaur is unable to battle. Which means Jon is the winner of the tournament.
The crowd cheer. Luke walks over to Ivysaur, who gets up.
Luke: Thanks for everything Ivysaur.
Jon walks over to Luke.
Jon: That was a great battle.
Luke: It sure was.
Jon and Luke shake hands. Later, Jon is standing on a podium. Falkner gives him a medal.
Jon: Thanks Falkner!
Falkner: Congratulations.
Falkner gives Jon a box containing a charcoal, quick claw and a mega stone.
Jon: A Mega Stone?
Falkner: You can use Mega Evolution, so this may come in handy.
Jon: Thanks.
Jon looks happy. Tyler, Mary, Luke and Ralph are near Jon.
Narrator: Jon has won the Scile City Tournament and has won a few prizes. With the tournament over, what will be on the cards next for Jon and Tyler.
