"I'll bring that Colosseum down, save my friends and send a message to the Order in the process" - Sceptile to Empoleon.

Sceptile is the main protagonist of Pokémon Legends and the leader of his group's struggle against Blaziken and subsequently The Order. He is a descendant of The Jade Hero.

Personality[]

As a Grovyle, he had a particularly serious nature and would rarely engage in conversations that didn't involve getting back at Blaziken in some way. His vengeful attitude would often lead to rash decisions such as the choice to fight Blaziken at both Rustboro and Mt.Chimney. Despite this, his steadfast approach to things is probably the only reason his group is still alive. When he became Sceptile, his thirst for vengeance against Blaziken seemed to mellow and he became more open and approachable by his friends. This may be due to his sudden interaction with Gardevoir after his evolution. None the less, Sceptile remains a formidible and steadfast leader who will do almost anything to protect his group against the machinations of the Order.

Powers and Abilities[]

Pre-Training[]

Prior to training at Empoleon's Guild, Sceptile was still a capable fighter. His agility and accuracy with a Leaf Blade was second to none. However, his lack of combat understanding, physical strength and haste to get the job done often sent him careening into a difficult situation.

Post-Training[]

Following extensive training at Empoleon's Guild, Sceptile's fighting skills dramatically improved. His lightning fast strikes, endurance and elegant fighting style confounds the vast majority of those who stand against him. Copious hours of tireless training have transformed Sceptile into one of the most formidable combatants in the Pokémon World. His Leaf Blades are capable of cutting through the thickest of materials, and his Energy Ball and Solarbeam powers prove to be the last thing many opponents ever see.

After explaining matters, Dusclops leads the group to the top of the mountain where they place the Red Orb in the pedestal. When Magmortar and Blaziken catch up to them, it is explained that they also required the Blue Orb. Dusclops distracts Magmortar while Sceptile's Group escape on Briney's Boat.

"Power of the Order"[]

Sceptile and his group are safe aboard Briney's boat and discuss what to do next. They spot Electivire marooned on an island. He makes an offer they cant refuse.

"Monsters of Hoenn"[]

Sceptile and the group reach Terra Cave and confront Blaziken, but do not manage to prevent him from awakening Groudon.

"The Coming Storm"[]

The Group narrowly escape being crushed in Terra Cave. When Sceptile hits his head after being struck by Blaziken, he is given the Jade Orb during his hallucination. Altaria gives him a ride to the Sky Pillar, but they are pursued by an irate Blaziken. The Chapter ends with the two having a final confrontation at the summit.

"Shining Vivid Green"[]

Sceptile and Blaziken battle ferociously, but eventually Sceptile defeats and throws Blaziken from the Sky Pillar. Using the power of the Jade Orb, Sceptile manages to summon Rayquaza and the two travel back to Sootopolis City in order to quell Groudon and Kyogre. After this is done, Sceptile and his group have a final battle with Magmortar which ultimately results in the latters death. Days later, Sceptile would later attend the handover ceremony at Empoleon's Guild and then return to Littleroot.

Pokemon Legends - Rebellion[]

Around one month before the events of Pokémon Legends - Rebellion, Gardevoir goes missing after scouting for work in Mauville. Sceptile tries searching and sending letters, but to no avail. He gradually seals himself away from society until he finds her.

"The Awakening"[]

Manectric comes to Sceptile's treehouse to check on him. It would appear that Manectric, Aggron and Lilligant took turns visiting him since Gardevoir's dissapearance. After reasoning with him, Manectric successfully manages to convince Sceptile to go to Empoleon's Guild and seek information there. Sceptile asks Aggron and Lilligant to accompany him, when they refuse, he grows angry and storms out of their house. He apologises the day after and he departs for the Guild with Manectric.

"A Fragile Hope"[]

Sceptile and Manectric arrive at the Guild the day after Scizor becomes the Regional Champion. Bisharp and Scizor tell Sceptile that Empoleon is in Snowpoint visiting his wife, but mysteriously hasn't contacted them recently. Sceptile and Manectric are then accompanied by Scizor as they set off for Snowpoint.

"Frozen Heart"[]

The group finally arrive at Snowpoint three days later, only to discover it under Order occupation. Scizor smuggles them in disguised as a merchant. Sceptile discovers Empoleon's marriage has collapsed and he has sealed himself away in Snowpoint Temple. Sceptile, Scizor and Manectric enter the temple and discover a deranged Empoleon on the bottom floor. They face off against the former Guildmaster, the battle is only stopped when Prinplup intervenes. Later, Empoleon accompanies the trio as they escape from Zangoose and flee into the forests.

"The Hunted Ones"[]

Sceptile and Empoleon split from Scizor and Manectric. After failing to locate them, they rest in a snowy cave for the night. When the morning sun rises, they are attacked by Zangoose and his forces. They are nearly overwhelmed until Samurott and his rebels arrive. Zangoose escapes, but Sceptile accompanies Samurott back to the campsite.

"The Collision"[]

At the campsite, Sceptile and Samurott immediatly disagree on what should be done with regards to the lack of the supplies in the camp. This rivalry comes to a head when the two engage in a fiersome battle which ends in a draw. Samurott later agrees to allow Sceptile to head for the Supply Cache.

"Hollow Victory"[]

Sceptile, Scizor, Unfezant and Zebstrika arrive at the supply cache. Sceptile and Unfezant sneak in and begin shipping the supplies out to Zebstrika and Scizor. They are later detected and are forced to flee with what they have. When the camp is attacked by Seviper's Group, Sceptile and the others arrive back just in time to hold them back.

"Into the Fire"[]

Following the events of the previous night, Sceptile assists in the relief effort. The group are found by Sandslash who details his escape from Zoroark, and Gardevoir's location. After convincing Samurott to accompany him, Sceptile prepares to launch a daring rescue mission as he nears the The House of Zoroark.

"When Life Shatters"[]

Sandslash infiltrates Zoroark's house while Sceptile and the others await for the gates to be unlocked. When a carriage containing Gardevoir and Gothitelle storms through the gates, Sceptile gives chase on Zebstrika. He successfully rescues Gardevoir from the carriage as it spins out of control and lands on its side. Sceptile shares a teary reunion with Gardevoir.

"Too Far From Home"[]

Sceptile, Samurott and the group flee south from Zoroark's House and meet up with Unfezant and the rest of Samurott's people. They discuss their next course of action while Sceptile desperately tries to convince Samurott to join with him and return to Hoenn.

"The Phoenix Rises"[]

Having successfully convinced Samurott and his people to join with him, the group board a high speed vessel to Hoenn. They are quickly joined by Pelipper, who finds them and tells them of the fate of Littleroot and the Guild. They return to the devastated Empoleon's Guild. After Bisharp's passing, Empoleon, Scizor and Swellow decide to split apart from the group and go after the Guild Members who sought refuge in Verdanturf. After receiving a message from Massivo Electivire, Sceptile discerns that the Littleroot survivors are being held in Petalburg Woods.

"Sceptile's Stratagem"[]

Sceptile and the group of Rebels rescue the Littleroot citizens, including Aggron and Lilligant. However, it is discovered that Blaziken is still alive. The Rebels set up camp in a temporarily safe location while Sceptile discusses with Samurott that Meteor Falls may be the only place they can reside.

"The Sanctuary"[]

Samurott, Unfezant and Manectric accompany Sceptile into the darkness of the Falls. They are attacked by Haunters, and soon stumble across Spiritomb. They manage to come to agreement that if Sceptile recovers the powerless Blue Orb from the Grey Islanders, Spiritomb will lend him his assistance with regards to shelter and protection.

"Days of Glory"[]

Sceptile takes Sandslash, Samurott and Aggron with him to retrieve the Blue Orb from the Grey Islanders. They are ambushed when they stray into hostile territory and are taken to Conkeldurr, the Grey Islander Leader. They are betrayed, but are saved when Empoleon and the other Guild Members arrives.

"Scales of the Snake"[]

Spiritomb advises Sceptile on where to get food and various other supplies. They receive another suspicious letter from Electivire detailing coordinates of a bountiful part of the forest. They follow through but discover Blaziken and a clutch of Order Soldiers. They easily defeat him, and take him into their custody.

"Ice and Flame"[]

Sceptile struggles over what to do with Blaziken. Gardevoir convinces him that whilst he was once their greatest enemy, they now have a common foe. Much to Aggron's annoyance, Sceptile agrees to ally himself with Blaziken after convincing the latter that the Order are the true enemies of them both. Sceptile hands Pelipper a letter and asks him to deliver it to an Unknown Recipient. At the very end of the chapter, Seviper appears on the clifftop and is swiftly captured.

"Revenge and Redemption"[]

The Rebels begin to buckle down for Zoroark's imminent arrival. Sceptile and Blaziken devise a secret plan. Later, Sceptile and Gardevoir are paid an ominous visit by Lunatone and Solrock, to which they pay little attention. After Seviper's execution, the Rebels witness Zoroark and his army on the horizon.

"The Meteor Crashes"[]

Sceptile and Samurott have a brief conversation with Zoroark before the attack begins. The Rebels vigorously defend the clifftop, but are forced to retreat into the Falls. Following another fierce battle in the caverns, the Rebels fall back to the Rustboro side of the falls. Sceptile and Spiritomb attempt to slow Zoroark as Spiritomb commits suicide via explosion. Sceptile mysteriously disappears.

"The Time of the Rebels"[]

As part of a long drawn out plan, Sceptile unveils himself at Ever Grande during Zoroark's Inauguration ceremony. He had been disguised as an executioner set to take Samurott's life, but he sets him free instead of beheading him. During the battle at Ever Grande, Sceptile pursues Zoroark and his wife into the Citadel, but on the upper floor are halted by Metagross. Samurott and Gardevoir move forward to confront the Massivo, whilst Sceptile and Blaziken fight together to stop the metal monstrosity. Metagross proves a near invincible opponent, but Blaziken sacrifices himself to bring it to it's end. Sceptile then proceeds onwards and saves Gardevoir from Gothitelle. Samurott, Zoroark and Gothitelle all plummet during the ensuing fight from the very top of the citadel. Samurott however, is saved by Aggron while Zoroark and his wife meet their ends on the rocks below. Sceptile then declares they will unite all people who no longer wish to live under the Order's Tyrannical Rule.
