Red (Japanese: レッド Red) is a main character in the manga series Pokémon Tales. His first Pokémon were Poliwag, which evolved into a Poliwhirl when saving him from drowning prior to the beginning of the story, and evolved once more into a Poliwrath whilst battling Lt. Surge, and a Pikachu his father gave him on his fourth birthday and has been the mascot of his team as well as his partner.

Red is ten years old at the beginning of the Red, Green, Blue and Yellow storyline. He is first seen in Eevee vs Pikachu, when he shows a group of children the proper way to battle pokemon when his pikachu defeats a nidoran. His long time friend Green returns and bests him as the towns strongest. Red is very sentimental, as shown in the battle versus Green in the twentieth annual Pokémon League tournament. He believes that best way to win a battle is to raise pokemon with the best care and love and always have a strategy. He is the 19th possessor of a rare object known as a burst stone which allows him to fuse with a pokemon. His Burstees are mewtwo and mew and can be called upon.

Red's special skill, as described by Professor Oak, is Pokémon battling. As such, he is called the "Warrior"(戦士 Warrior).

In later years Red joins the Guardian Forces which are later renamed The League of Dex Holders. And is the undisputed leader along with Green, Blaine and Professor Oak.

Red's Pikachu

A Pokemon Red received as a gift from his father a month before his demise. Pikachu was first a pichu when recieved. He is a male and was received when he was 4 years old. Pichu evolved into a Pikachu during a school trip in which he fell into a herd of Houndour. It at one point refused to evolve into Raichu. In the Gold, Silver & Crystal He was forced by Giovanni to evolve into Raichu but devolved thanks to Celebi. He is Red's team mascot and his most trusted partner. Winning lots of badges and helped him win the semi finals of the indigo conference. He has an ongoing rivalry with Green's Umbreon and developed a relationship with Blue's Vulpix. His offspring a female Pichu became Red's son Fire's Pokemon and his other offspring a female Vulpix which became Red's daughter's Pokemon. His strongest attack is a fusion of Thunder and Thunderbolt along with Return. Called UltraVolt.2. He is a male and is level 90

Red's Poliwrath

The first Pokemon Red caught officially. He captured it whilst he was getting attacked by a herd of Spearow, using his Pikachu he defeated them and took the little Poliwag as his own. It was also one of his childhood pokemon which he obtained as a child at age 6. It eventually evolved into a Poliwhirl whilst he was battling a thief that broke into Red's home when he was 7. It later evolved into a Poliwrath during his conflict with Lt.Surge. It was widely recognised as Red's strongest Fighting Type along with Blaziken. Red classified him as his most tactical pokemon and a world champion. He has a rivalry with Green's Scizor and was in a relationship with Misty's Politoed. He eventually had a son Poliwag soon given to Platinum in the Diamond and Pearl Saga. He defeated Bruno's Machamp in the Elite Four challenge. He is a male and is level 88

Red's Charizard

Recieved as a charmander from professor Oak after witnessing Green obtain a squirtle from his grandfather. Charmander originally escaped from the lab to chase a Butterfree but got sidetracked and attacked by a Fearow. Being cornered it heroically saved Red from a Drill Peck. It has since been Red's most powerful pokemon even being compared to Dialga and Xerneas at Mega Evolution X. It has stemmed a heated rivalry with notable pokemon such as Mewtwo, Green's Blastoise, and Red's own Blaziken. It evolved twice into a Charmeleon during a battle with Kakumaru and once more against ZapMolCuno along with Green's Blastoise and Blue's Venusaur. It provided burst power to allow Red to burst into Mewrizard (Mew and Charizard) To fight Burst Mode Mewtwo. It defeated Green's Blastoise at the Pokemon League. It has a relationship with Yellow's Charizard and had a child with it. It's level is 89 and it's ability is Blaze with a Brave nature.

Red's Snorlax

Red caught this titanic pokemon near Diglett's Cave where it was sleeping. It was said to have defeated 99 trainers who disturbed it and planned to make Red it's 100th victim. However with Pikachu's thunder wave he could defeat it. It was used as a tank in Red's team used for defensive purposes and to take on much bigger foes like Tyranitar. It was used to face Giovanni's Rhyhorn inly to be defeated. It helped to destroy the Android Dragonite. And then to defeat Lugia at the end of the first chapter. Snorlax defeated Green's Machamp and helped him to win the Kalos Conference but never made it to the elite four challenge due to the Yveltal invasion. It is level 85 with the ability Immunity and the nature of Lazy.
