Ray (Japanese: ドラゴ Drago) is the Champion of the Atora League in the Atora region and a recurring character in the Pokémon anime. He specializes in the Dragon-type. He is the older brother of Xack and Alisyn and the younger brother of Olivia.

History[]

Alolan Ray

Ray is the second oldest sibling in the family, being younger than Olivia but older than Xack and Alisyn. Despite his age, he still gets in heated arguments with his siblings about useless topics such as what types of Poffins are the best and whether size matters in terms of Pokémon strength. Despite their differences, they are all very close and have each others' backs in the end.

When he turned ten, he used his older sister's Dragonair to help catch a Bagon, which became his first and most used Pokémon. Since then, he has traveled many regions and captured a nice handful of powerful Pokémon of his own. Following his sister's footsteps, he decided to focus on the Dragon-type as his main type and eventually raised up the ranks to become an elite Dragon Tamer.

Shortly before meeting Ash, Luci, and Garrett, he challenged Olivia and the Atore Elite Four for the title of Atora League Champion, to which he won in a very decisive battle between his Salamence and Olivia's Dragonite. Despite their competitive nature, both siblings were able to get past the power struggle and look at the bigger aspects to their relationship.

Character[]

Ray is portrayed as a rash, risky trainer. He is willing to fight strong Pokémon with weak Pokémon. He spends his time training his Pokémon for competitions such as league challenges and tournaments. He is shown to have a great dislike towards Pokémon Contests and Pokémon Musicals, often calling them "wannabe battles." This always seems to infuriate his younger sister, Alisyn, who enjoys Pokémon contests more than anything.
