Synopsis[]
Ten years after the events of Pokémon Sun and Moon, two teenaged siblings from the Kalos region move to Melemele Island in the Alola region with their family. Both are eager to partake in and complete the famous Island Trials for the chance to challenge the fearsome Pokémon League, and they each set off on their journey, each one with a Pokémon from home in tow.
Very shortly after, wormholes similar to the ones the Ultra Beasts came from appear all over Alola, only this time, magical creatures calling themselves "ponies" emerge from them. The two siblings come across two of them and agree to keep them safe and help find the rest of her friends along their travels, all while evading forces who wish to use the ponies for their own power-hungry ways, as well as solving the mystery of their appearance.
Characters[]
Main Characters[]
- Sam Brier - One of the protagonists of Pokémon Eclipse, and the older brother of Alice. While not as outgoing or intuitive as his sister, he is still intensely protective of his friends, family, and Pokémon, even willing to fight by their side should the situation arise. His first Pokémon is a Honedge, which he brought with to Alola from the Kalos region. After discovering Starlight and Fluttershy on Melemele Island where they crash-landed, he and Alice befriend the two ponies and assist them in finding their other lost friends.
- Alice Brier - One of the protagonists of Pokémon Eclipse, and the younger sister of Sam. A natural-born Pokémon trainer, Alice is a very extroverted and strong-willed individual, but is known to show her softer side at appropriate times. Her first Pokémon is a Noibat, which she brought with to Alola from the Kalos region. After discovering Starlight and Fluttershy on Melemele Island where they crash-landed, she and Sam befriend the two ponies and assist them in finding their other lost friends.
- Starlight Glimmer - A unicorn mare and one of eight creatures pulled from her homeland of Equestria in a faraway world due to a freak accident caused by the Aether Foundation. While she's shown to be an affable and clever pony, she tends to rely heavily on her magic, something that proves problematic upon encountering the nefarious Team Prism. She and Fluttershy join Sam and Alice on their Pokémon adventure to find their other friends on the other islands.
- Fluttershy - A pegasus mare and one of eight creatures pulled from her homeland of Equestria in a faraway world due to a freak accident caused by the Aether Foundation. As timid and introverted as her name suggests, Fluttershy shows most confidence around those she trusts the very most, though she can and will fight for their safety if they're in danger. She and Starlight join Sam and Alice on their Pokémon adventure to find their other friends on the other islands.
- Sun - The former protagonist of the Pokémon Sun and Moon video game, he is now co-Assistant Branch Chief of the Aether Foundation alongside Lillie, who spearhead the organization's inter-dimensional research efforts that ultimately unveil the land of Equestria and the world it inhabits. Though he has not lost his sense of adventure or his kind-hearted nature, he has matured in the years following his own Pokémon adventure, becoming more stoic and calculating in the process.
- Lillie Mohn - Co-Assistant Branch Chief of the Aether Foundation alongside Sun. Having gone on her own Pokémon adventure in the Kanto region following the events of Pokémon Sun and Moon, she has become much more confident and self-assured in her older age, but is still prone to folding under pressure and feels intense regret for her role in the Aether Foundation pulling the Equestrians from their world. She befriends Twilight Sparkle and Spike after they are brought to the Aether House base on Ula'ula Island following their landing there.
- Gladion Mohn - Field agent for the Aether Foundation. Though maintaining his serious and aloof demeanor from Pokémon Sun and Moon, he has learned to be more open and forgiving toward people and takes tremendous care of his Pokémon both on and off the battlefield. After encountering Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie twice on Poni Island where they landed, he eventually earns their trust and friendship and gets them to tag along to help find their other friends.
- Hau - A close friend and ally to Sam and Alice Brier and the current Kahuna of Melemele Island. Much like his friend Sun, his age has made him more mature, though has hardly diminished his jolly and overtly friendly personality. In battle, Hau is noticeably more serious, wanting to live up to the legacy left to him by his grandfather and former Kahuna, Hala.
Villains[]
- Team Prism - Team Prism are the primary antagonist force in Pokémon Eclipse. The grunts, admins, and Prism leader exclusively use Psychic-type Pokémon with varied sets of moves to counter any type of Pokémon that would normally be strong against them. Though the grunts only possess a single Pokémon each, they tend to attack in larger groups to overwhelm their opponents. Another notable feature amongst the Prism members are the artificial Z-Rings they possess. Though they were not crafted from the same Sparkling Stones normally used to craft the Z-Rings of many trainers, they are still able to draw Z-Power, albeit a corrupted version of it, from themselves to imbue their Pokémon with energy. Pokémon that subsequently use a Z-Move will suffer recoil damage. Though their ambitions are vague, the members of Team Prism, even the grunts, are aware of the existence of Equestria and its inhabitants and are working to capture Starlight, Fluttershy, and their friends on Alola, using their Pokémons' psychic powers to nullify the magic that unicorns and alicorns wield, making them temporarily impotent.
