Ghounyip is a dual-Type Ghost/Water-Type Pokémon.

It does not evolve into any other Pokemon, but it is currently unknown if it evolves from any other Pokémon.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Ghounyip is a tall, bipedal creature with leathery gray skin, having a white front. Its body resembles that of a canine with walrus tusks, having glowing yellow eyes and a purple nose, and what appears to be a short dark red ponytail in the back of its head. Its torso has a visible gut to it, and a horse-like dark red tail comes from its rear. Its arms are muscular with three-fingered hands, but its legs are twig brown and surprisingly skinny, with purple-webbed flippers for feet. Odd light gray mist always hovers around its body.

Special abilities[]

Ghounyip can cause its body to vanish within mist that gathers over water, and even produce this mist itself. Because of this, it is rarely seen to the point that some people wonder if it is even real.

Behavior[]

Ghounyip are territorial Pokemon that will drown any Pokemon that dares step foot in its lake without its permission. However, to those that it does give permission to, it shows a surprising kind side.

Habitat[]

Ghounyip live in areas of water, mostly lakes. If there is an odd mist hovering above the water, it's said that a Ghounyip is nearby.

Trivia[]

Origin[]

Ghounyip is based on the bunyip, a creature of Australian myth said to inhabit areas of water. "Bunyip" can be taken to mean "evil spirit", and some bunyips are depicted as half-spirit creatures, which may have inspired this Pokemon's Ghost-Type.

Name origin[]

Ghounyip comes from "ghoul" and "bunyip".
