Betafray (pronounced "BAY-tuh-fray") is a dual-type Water/Fighting Pokémon.

Male Betafray evolve into Betabroll starting at level 30. Females are not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Gender differences

Female Betafray have shorter tailfins than males. Only male Betafray evolve.

Special abilities

Male Betafray are faster swimmers than the females. When swimming at maximum speed, they gain enough momentum to tear straight through solid objects.

Behavior

Betafray are territorial and extremely aggressive towards their own kind; a single male dominates an entire school of females, who are more docile. These Pokémon can be curious at times, but when faced with a predator, they will use their better judgment and hide behind large rock formations or in clumps of seaweed until the threat passes by. If faced with a rival or other intruder, a male will savagely attack it at fast speeds by ramming into it relentlessly in an effort to chase it off.

Habitat

Betafray are found in warm, tropical waters, where they become very possessive of their territory and aggressive towards intruders.

Diet

In the wild, Betafray prey upon the larvae of Bug-type Pokémon. Once captured, they will eat Pokémon food like any other Pokémon.

Trivia

Origin

Like its evolved form, Betafray is based off of a Siamese fighting fish, an aggressive species of freshwater aquarium fish.

Name origin

Betafray's name is a combination of the words "betta," the simplified name for the Siamese fighting fish, and "fray."
