Navy
Because it shares its mind through the electromagnetic field, this Pokémon has been known to unintentionally damage nearby modern devices. It is not unheard of for online viruses to be caused by a Basiborg.

Trivia[]

Origin[]

Basiborg is based after snakes; most notably, it is inspired by venomous snakes, due to its body shape and various fang-related and poison inflicting moves. It also seems to take inspiration from the mythical creature known as the basilisk, which is said to be a reptile reputed as the king of serpents and capable of producing deadly venom. However, the most famous aspect of the basilisk is its ability to kill anyone it sees by looking at them; a trait emphasized by Basiborg's various vision related moves, such as Leer and Glare, which hinder opponents. It also seems to draw upon the concept of cyborgs, given its Steel typing and natural anatomy meshing together, and may also be based upon the Borg from the Star Trek series; partly due to its species name as the Collective Pokémon and its hive mind behavior, and partly due to its cyborg aspects. This is further played up by the moves Basiborg can learn and its abilities, which seem to enforce the idea of fighting together as a common group, rather than as one lone individual. Lastly, it may possibly have some inspiration taken from internet viruses, due to its Pokédex entry stating it can cause them to happen, and thanks to the hive mind of its colony resembling the internet to some degree.

Name origin[]

Basiborg is a portmanteau of basilisk (Basi) and Borg; the latter referring to a group of fictional antagonists in the Star Trek series. Borg may also be a shortened form of the word, cyborg.

Bashiborugu is the Japanese pronunciation of Basiborg's English name.
