Barry is a main character in the Sinnoh Arc of Pokémon (Master ventus). He decides to travel across Sinnoh with Andy because Barry ends up fining him. Later he becomes friends with Andy, and decides to travel to Kalos with him.

Barry's personality is very similar to his game counterpart, he is easily angered and short-tempered and more than often threatens to fine Andy for a lot of money if he does something that does not meet up to his expectations, even though Barry does get mad at Andy for some of the things he does, Barry does consider Andy his friends and cares for him.

- Barry is the only male main character besides Andy, who doesn't dream of being a Gym Leder.
- Barry is the third male traveling companion, the owns a grass starter and a water starter. Tristan (Seperior, Feraligatr), Blue (Blastoise, Sceptile) and Barry (Torterra, Froakie).
- Barry is the only male traveling companion of Andy, who's father has been shown.
- Barry is the first male traveling companion of Andy to have his starter Pokemon fully evolved prior to his debut.
- Barry is the second rival Andy has traveled with, the first being Blue during the Hoenn and Johto Arcs.
- Barry is the third male traveling companion of Andy, to own an early route flying type that are not in their rotation. Barry owns a Staraptor which is at home right now, Blue owns a Pidgeot that's status is unknown and Tristan had an Unfezant that he released to mentor Pidove.
